Seven.

I told myself I wouldn't blog about this anymore, but it seems like that's not going to happen. heh So yeah, here goes.

Today is seven months since Hannah passed away. I woke up this morning with a heavy heart, heavier than it has been in a while. I was confused because I hadn't been in such a strange mood in a few months.
The plan for today was to wake up and go to B-rock for a picnic. If you don't know, B-rock is this gorgeous look out spot put by Riverside park just down the road from campus. You have to park and then walk through woods on a dirt trail to get to it, (Yes. It's tresspassing. Shh..) but the view is georgeous and so worth it. So me, Haleigh, Hannah (girl across the hall), and Kelsey(suitemate) all went and made the hike up to B-rock (after we went to another spot I knew of and had a picnic). Once we got there, the view pretty much took my breath away. I couldn't ask for a more gorgeous day. So, there I stood on the top of a big boulder looking out over the river and what seemed like a sea of green, red, and yellow trees. I climbed down a few levels of large rocks, and took a seat on the edge of a boulder. The other girls were up higher than me, so I was sorta by myself enjoying such a peaceful scene. As I looked out, I was almost moved to tears. I got to thinking about Hannah, how thankful I am to have had such a friend.. something I totally took for granted back then when she was here. I thought when she passed away, that by now things would be easier. Well they're not easier, just.. different. My life has changed more in the past 6 months that it ever has. Not that that's a bad thing, I should be used to change, but I don't necessarily like it.
But as I was sitting there, I thought about my life and how I've been rescued from my fears and anxieties.. How much I have to be thankful for. God has such a plan for my life, and it's so incredible to think about the possibilities. So, instead of dwelling on myself and my own selfish wants, I want to be able to wake up every morning and honestly thank God for giving me the life that he has. I'm not entitled to a tomorrow, though I tend to live every day as I am. But nothing that I have is "mine", especially my life.
It seems like every day God teaches me something new through the life of my dear friend. Seven months ago, I would never have thought I would have learned anything positive from the death of Hannah. I honestly couldn't even wrap my mind around the seven months that I had in front of me. But now, as I look at my growth, I'm amazed to realize the grace that God has given to me. I can honestly say that I have been rescued.. Today, I have been reunited with Christ.. Praise God for his mercy. Seven months ago, I was so.. confused. I didn't want to think about anything, because when I did, it always came back to Hannah. That annoyed the ever living out of me. So I pushed it all away, God in particular. But. Today, as I sat there, I saw his beauty.. And a tiny part of how much I have to be thankful for. I wanted to start singing "My God is so BIG! So strong and so mighty. There's nothing my God cannot do! *clap* *clap*" But I refrained. :)
So.. all in all, I'm so greatful for the connection I made today. Or reconnection I should say. Praise God for Hannah.. and for the time I had with her. Praise God for his power.. his mercy. I'm so excited for what's next.

Take a hike Ike.

We're under tornado watch. The storm is coming right toward us, and have had tornadoes in the past hour just a few cities over. If we go into a tornado warning, we'll have to go take shelter in the hallway. (Which doesn't make sense to me. Third floor, with windows on the end of each hallway. But whatever.)
So today has been slow. Haleigh and I made a Walmart run this morning to get some groceries and gas, and then we hung out and watched Pearl Harber this afternoon. (By the way, I LOVE that movie, but at the same time I hate it for making me CRY.) I hate that I'm away from my family, but I'm so glad to know they're safe. Please keep us in your prayers as Ike comes over us, and passes tomorrow. God is so faithful, and I'm very glad to hear the damage wasn't as bad as it could have been and that for the most part, people are doing all right.
So.. Right now we're just watching the news and watching the storm approach closer and closer. (Exciting. I know.) Lol The outer storms are coming in to the Cabot area, which is just about 20 minutes or so from Searcy. So, we should be seeing some rain soon. Time to geet out the boots!
Hope you are having a good day. :)

Audience of One-Big Daddy Weave
I come on my knees
To lay down before you
Bringing all that I am
Longing only to know you
Seeking your face
And not only your hand
I find you embracing me
Just as I am
And I lift these songs
To you and you alone
As I sing to you
In my praises make your home
To my audience of one:
You are Father, and you are Son
As your spirit flows free,
Let it find within me
A heart that beats to praise you.
And now just to know you more
Has become my great reward
To see your kingdom come
And your will be done
I only desire to be yours,
Lord
So what could I bring
To honor your majesty
What song could I sing
That would move the heart of royalty
And all that I have
Is the life that youve given me
So Lord let me live for you
My song with humility
And Lord as the love song
Of my life is played
I have one desire
To bring glory to your name
To my audience of one:
You are Father, and you are Son
As your spirit flows free,
Let it find within me
A heart that beats to praise you.
And now just to know you more
Has become my great reward
To see your kingdom come
And your will be done
I only desire to be yours,
Lord
And we lift these songs
To you and you alone
As we sing to you
In our praises make your home
To my audience of one:
You are Father, and you are Son
As your spirit flows free,
Let it find within me
A heart that beats to praise you.
And now just to know you more
Has become my great reward
To see your kingdom come
And your will be done
I only desire to be yours,
Lord
Be blessed.

First day!

First off, I'm pretty bummed that Facebook doesn't have the blog feature like Myspace does.. :/ SO.. I got a blogspot! I'll be updating here rather than lame notes on Facebook where you have to one by one select people to Add.. So, unless I decide otherwise, this is my blog!

Anyways..

Today was my first day of college! Overall, it went really well. Other than a crappy chapel seat :( and History with "sedate 'em" Statom, I enjoyed my day a lot. I did have five classes today, but I'm actually not bummed cause I only have two on Tues and Thurs! Mon, Wed, and Fri, I have 4 or 5, so Tues and Thurs are my study/relax days. I like my professors, but classes are kinda strange. It's wierd to see people who look 25 instead of 12 in class.. lol But that's college I suppose.
I also got my laundry done this afternoon. (Aww.. the first laundry trip!) It was actually pretty boring waiting for my clothes to dry.. :/ lol But, that will be good study time when I need it. So.. it's not so bad.
I'm having a lot of fun "on my own". I miss every one at home a lot, but things are good here. I have an awesome roomie and really cool suitemates, so I'm in good company. Not to mention the thousands others around campus. ;)
I'm really excited to see how God uses me here. I've already met a bunch of awesome people, and I can't wait to get to know more. I'm so blessed to be here, and just want to soak it all up! lol Though I feel like a lame-o for not being involved in anything.. lol I'm thinking about instead of pledging a club, joining a service club/group thing. That's one of the main reasons why I wanted to be in a club anyways.
So yeah, I'm sorry it's not in major detail, but that's my life at the moment.
Hope everyone elses day was great! I love and miss you all!

God bless,
Lauren
